Authorities say on Tuesday morning, 31-year-old Justin Grant Littrell was armed with a handgun when confronted by Box Elder police in the Prairie View Estates neighborhood. They say Littrell shot a police and police returned fire.
Authorities say Littrell ran into a backyard, holding two people at gunpoint for a short time. Hostages were able to get away, and Littrell ran from the scene.

Authorities say they were able to negotiate with Littrell and resolve the situation peacefully around 12 p.m.
