Sioux Falls Man Dies from Injuries After Argument with Girlfriend

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Police announced on Monday that a Sioux Falls man died from his injuries sustained during an argument with his girlfriend on Saturday.

Police say the 46-year-old victim suffered a brain bleed when he fell off the hood of his girlfriend’s car during an argument. They say the argument began at around 9 p.m., Saturday.  Police received the call after a passerby found the 46-year-old victim unconscious in the street near East 15th Street and South Charlotte Avenue.

Police say the victim and his girlfriend, 43-year-old Jayme Knudson, were arguing about their relationship. They say the victim was standing in front of Knudson’s vehicle while she was attempting to leave.

According to police, the victim jumped up on the hood when Knudson started driving. They say Knudson took a turn and the victim rolled off the vehicle and hit his head on the pavement.

Police say the victim suffered a brain bleed and was being treated at a Sioux Falls hospital before succumbing to his injuries at around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

They say the victim’s family invoked their Marsy’s Law rights, so they are unable to release his name.

Police arrested Knudson on aggravated assault and felony hit-and-run charges. Any decisions on amending the charges will be made by the State’s Attorney
