Aberdeen Wings Win First Robertson Cup With 2-1 Victory Over Fairbanks

BLAINE, MN… The Aberdeen Wings got a stellar performance from their MVP goalie Matt Vernon who made several great saves and stopped 27 of 28 shots from the high-scoring Fairbanks Ice Dogs Tuesday night in a 2-1 victory for their first ever Robertson Cup championship. John Sladic scored in the first period to break the scoreless tie. Parker Brown tied things up in the second, but a late power play by Joe Strada turned out to be the game-winner for Scott Langer’s team.

KDLT’s Zach Borg talked with the coach/GM and the star goalie during the 10 o’clock sportscast and Matt held up the Robertson Cup!
